Falls threaten seniors’ safety and independence and generate enormous economic and personal costs. Falls are a leading cause of death for older Americans. A patient with a fall may require prolonged hospitalization. Falls often result in bodily injuries, including loss of blood from the body, and falls could result in thrombotic events. Shared Decision Making and Communicationįalls in the elderly are a serious problem, and can be life-threatening.
